"Hello?" *thock, thock* "Is this LJ on?"
Jul. 1st, 2003 08:04 amYesterday was a butt buster. We have a new figurine coming out and I needed to make a quick a dirty mold for it. That's another way of saying "we need something quick that isn't a production mold." Unfortunately we had to have a board meeting first, which meant that the other two board members didn't show up until they had all of their information ready that they wanted to present, which in turn meant that the models for the new figurine didn't show up until noon. So that was a 14 hour day, but I got it done.

I got home at around 8:00. I was truly ready to crash, but something caught my eye. Out of the top of our 6 or 7 foot ornamental weeping Japanese Maple was a bloom pod. ...which was odd because Japanese Maples don't bloom. I examined it closer and could swear it looked like a thistle pod. What? Was there dirt in the top of the tree that it was growing out of? No. This turned out to be a 7 foot thistle that had grown up through the tree and popped out of the canopy. Well the thistle is gone, but I really need to get the weeds out of the garden beds.
Bees! They decided that our cable junction box was the best place to nest. I tried to bomb them out on Friday, but that only served to make them mad. I couldn't spray up the hole they were using as their main entrance. So I took to pounding on the inside wall. It's only a single sheet of composite board, it's part of the outside wall of the garage. Sure made them mad. I couldn't hear for the buzzing. But I finally convinced them that the cable box wasn't a high quality location. They left.
