I should learn. I need to have a big sign in front of me, or maybe have my visor beep me every day or something, with a massage that says. "Brain Dead? Drink water, Idiot!!"

One of my recent posts I mentioned that I couldn't seem to think. It was because I haven't been drinking water. I got into the habit of drinking like two or three liters a day. Now I think I'm addicted or something. If I don't get at least the gov't recommended 8 glasses a day I just shut down.

So yesterday, by about noon when I realized that might be the problem, I downed a liter in about five minutes. Suddenly everything makes sense, the day's needs were clear, and I had a whole lotta energy.

Drink up, people!

Nods

Since I've cut my soda intake in half, I've been drinking water in it's stead and I have noticed a BIG difference in how I feel. I can think more clearly and I don't feel as drugged as I used to.

My soda average so far is 2 to 3 a day. Only with food is the goal I set. I used to could polish a twelve pack a day. It's amazing that I still have teeth and kidneys.

I can relate, dude, it's like my oxygen habit, man.

Oh, and it was "What are you gonna do, turn him into a girl? ...oh, damn!"

... then I guess I'll have to just fix it. Like I said, water. ...

Water is the key.

Water is the key, its important. And even more so when your dieting. I've also found that those metabolife pills and it's kin, one of the things it encourages your body to do is get rid of any liquid waste. Bluntly put, you pee your weight away. This is good and bad. If your drinking water, its no big deal. But if you aren't drinking water and taking the pills while you diet, you do loose weight, but it's weight loss and the loss of temporary water weight. It's a artificially induced reduction in weight, and doesn't count. The good news is you know the bottom range of your weight, without it being artificially inflated with any liquids in your system. The bad news is that your not hydrated as well as you probably should be. If you drink lots of water and your hydrated, then all is well in the world. Having the liquids in your system doesn't hurt anything, it just increases your weight. And if you can live without seeing instant returns on your work, then it's no big deal.

Since your individual weight can vary dramatically due to your intake of fluids. It's not uncommon for people to fluxuate anywhere from 5-10lbs just off of liquids, eating habits and activity levels. A few pounds of that is just off of water alone.

I in fact think nothing of water weight. It's totally common for me to weigh in at the end of the day, go to bed, and wake up 1-2lbs lighter when I weigh in before my shower in the morning. Some of it was waste, some of it was exhaled(your lungs humidify your air intake, and some of that moisture is lost during your exhalation), some of it was burned for energy while you were asleep. It's all part of this interdependant cycle.

It's interesting really... this diet and learning about it and following through with things, I've been feeling better about myself, and eating better than I have in years. I also have learned more about my own body and "how things work", just out of my own research than I was *ever* taught in biology class.

BTW, how is your diet going? Still well I hope?

I've been off the Metabolife for about three months. I've been maintaining the weight loss all that time, at about 170. I'm about ready to start it again in lower quantities [it's been long enough] just to get off the last few pounds. And I'm still going to the gym [okay, I missed the last two weeks]. That's the important part of this whole process, that and eating right.

I learned the thing with water about 8 years ago when my family got on the 'Jenny Craig' kick. [Don't do that. It ain't worth it.] The only thing I got from that was the habit of drinking water. Yeah, I was up to four liters during the Metabolife process, so no problem there. Though when you start drinking a larger quantity of water on a regular basis you get used to it and don't have to run to the john all time.

I've found this thing with what I call 'brain fog' [see Joe -vs- the Volcano] happens to me all the time when I haven't had regular amounts of water, diet or no diet. I used to think I was getting giddy or coffee-like stimulation from water, when in fact I was merely thinking clearly and not feeling tired.
