Snowfall is Coming
Nov. 29th, 2006 07:43 amRed Sky in the Morning,
Sailors take Warning.

This saying holds sway in the mid latitudes, between 30 and 55 degrees. Seattle is at 47.3 degrees. Because storms usually come from the west, a red sky in the morning implies the rising sun in the east is shining on clouds to the west and conditions are clear to the east. Clouds moving from the west, especially upper level cirrus, indicate an approaching storm system.
Of course Puget Sound, being surrounded by mountains, this saying doesn't always hold true. Today it just might.
Snowfall's coming! Rain after midnight though.
