Word = Beep
Nov. 28th, 2006 09:40 amMonday morning, about 4, Juli woke to a short sharp beep. That's the sound our hardwired smoke detectors make when their back up batteries are dying. I swapped out all of the batteries last August, except one. The detector on our 20' high ceiling was simply out of reach. Sure enough, that was the one.
Fortunately I inherited a 16' extension ladder from the closing business. Unfortunately it was just long enough to make things interesting, and the replacement procedure takes two hands. The ladder itself is lightweight aluminum, not the nice heavy aluminum. I finally sucked it up and climbed it backwards [yes, I'll face heights if I have to]. After that the replacement was easy. It's nice to know this will actually be a simple procedure in the future.
We're icy! [insert 'Not like Bellingham' comment here]. Juli was frozen out of her car. We had to pour warm [not hot] water on it and ease it open before it refroze. Juli contemplated taking my car to work. I followed her to the coffee shop to test the roads. She decided that she was safer being familiar with her car then she was with my all wheel drive.
I just tried to call her. She got to work just fine, but apparently her phones are malfunctioning.
I managed to sketch yesterday. Nothing to show though.

Here is a nice summer like picture. Know what's cool about this fuchsia?
It's Frozen Solid!

The temperature at 9:30 AM is 23 degrees. Windchill at 14 degrees.
