Sep. 28th, 2004 09:21 pmJuli and I spent the day at Ikea. We intended to get a couch and drapes along with our other bootee, but that didn't happen. We picked up some very nice furnature to replace the old entertainment that Juli built back in the 80's. And a corner unit for the TV.
We test drove a bunch of couches and chairs and found one that was VERY VERY comfortable. We wanted blue. Unfortunately the only color blue they offered was just wrong. Since we plan to spen a good deal of time sitting on our butts on that new couch it's only right that we get the perfect one.
The drapes, well they had the right material, but they again didn't have the color. On the plus side, we know a lot better what it is that we're after. That's more then half the battle.
The fun part is getting all of that neat stuff home. The cargo space of the Subaru is 63 inches. The length of the new furnature box is 76 inches. Fortunately they have twine available that's strong enough to tie all that merchandise to the top of an old yellow VW bug [heh], so it was just the right kind to tie the hatch back closed.
Our trip home was through commuter traffic on 167 and then on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. But we're home now. I made a nice Linguine Alfredo dinner.
Tomorrow, we paint.
