[livejournal.com profile] miko2 reminded me of some music I heard on NPR. It was Hasidic New Wave or Hasidic/Jazz fusion. I'm not one to run out and by alternative music. A lot of the stuff I buy can go in behind what ever I'm doing and not be heard, kind of pleasant background music. My friends call it "Keith Music", and though they say they like it they need to play something like Cheep Trick after they come for a visit.

This album is called "From the Belly of Abraham". The band members, Frank London and Greg Wall, have been putting out this style of music for a while. I'd never heard of them of Hasidic New Wave music until I heard the NPR review of their latest album. What's different about this one, and what triggered the report, was that the band brought in a group of Senegalese drummers. These percussionists from the Sabar tradition oddly compliment the original band's music.

So, I'm buying something different. Could be fun.

Sounds cool btw.
