To Sigh or not To Sigh?
Apr. 9th, 2003 10:03 pmWell... The famous
dolphinchatter spelling technique bit me in the arss big time. I got to work today and, for some reason, glanced at the first company newsletter. There, staring at me in a large 28 point font was the word "Fairwell".
I have since found the spell checker in PageMaker.
Now here's the odd bit. Other things happened today that should have made my day miserable. But since I have not been sweating the small things lately I managed not only to keep them under control, but to just solve them. Today's big example, we received a delivery of insert cells that were supposed to be 2 cells by 6 cells. Instead they were 4 x 3.
I called the manufacturer with simple resolution in mind and not conflict. I've learned from Juli that in retail there doesn't need to be a conflict in seeking resolutions. You just do it. While the person I talked to was all over herself in an effort to apologize I was fine with it all. In fact I was trying to find some way to set her mind at ease as far as I was concerned. She's already kicking herself for the $three digit flub. I certainly wasn't going to be a problem.
In the end I had to spend about an hour getting the botched order sent to the county recycle, but that's just peanuts to me.
I'll have to work my way through the "fairwell" thing though. Hmmm. The newsletter is a perfect time to be more diligent about correct spelling. It represents our company after all. Perhaps that's my good spin.
