Viruses, Bugs, and the Great Fubar Patrol
Nov. 5th, 2006 10:39 pmJuli got me a nice flat panel monitor for my birthday. Wow, they've become CHEAP since I bought hers a few years ago. In the process of connecting my new monitor Juli commented that she's been having difficulty connecting to the internet with her machine.
I poked around on her machine and discovered that it was full of bugs. Quick trip to Office Depot for a new virus program. Loaded it up and ran it. It cleared out 36 of the nasty little things. ...and now her machine barely limps along. FOrtunately all of her important files are backed up into the main computer, so if it comes down to it I can completely start from scratch on her machine. ...I can... but not just yet. That will be a last resort if at all.
Meanwhile my laptop is acting up again. The screen shuts down randomly. The last time this happened we thought we had tracked it down to a loose screw. This time I have a spare monitor I can hook to the laptop and run in tandem. I've discovered that when the laptop screen shuts down so does the second monitor. I think this is a good thing. It means there may not be anything wrong with the monitor. SO no I believe I'll be contacting Dell support again.
So... all computer's and no sketching today. Damn!
