Images of Life
Sep. 13th, 2002 08:57 pmYesterday, after I came home from work, Juli filled me in on her day.
She, Joe and Susan drove into the parking lot and happened upon Jan, the West Coast manager. Jan had been told by Kathi's husband the night before. They stood in the parking lot and discussed how they were going to break the news. Juli told them that the staff, seeing Juli on her day off, Joe on his vacation, and Jan all coming in together, would already know. In fact they probably had already seen them in the parking lot. So they walked in, and sure enough the staff had guessed.
Juli spent it mostly in the store on the phone calling people and letting them know the sad news. There were people who were on vacation, regular customers that knew her, people that had trained under Kathi... Tacoma is one of the training stores for the nation. There were people as far away as Florida and Hawaii that had to be called.
When Juli got home she was exhausted and wrung out. She had brought with her some photos of Kathi, Kathi's name tag and, I think it's called a claddagh, ornament[ thank you
rhun ]. She wanted me to get into Photoshop and create a tribute that they could put up in the store. They already had a table out that was used to pay tribute to the seven people that TJ Maxx had lost on 9/11, so they would just use the same table. It was very helpful for Juli to get into something proactive. She was a little better after we had finished. She's even thinking about learning Photoshop and LJ.
Here's the tribute we put together. Juli sat over my sholder and directed me as to what she wanted.
