This is triple points weekend at Suncoast and I have a few coupons. So What's good in Anime? What should I look for. Have Esca flonaze. Have Cowboy Bebop [thanks for the great Christmas presents, gang]. Have Kameguri Orange Road, the movie but I haven't seen it yet. What should I look into now?

Ameenay!
Of course, there's always my personal favorite of all time, El Hazard, but it only comes (on DVD anyway) in a boxed set and it's close to $100 bucks. It does have both OVA series in it. The two TV series I didn't really care for. Wanderers flat out sucked (a lame ass rewrite of the original show where they change all the characters -- for the worse in my opinion), and the Alternative World wasn't much better (but at least it followed the OVA continuity -- it just didn't follow through with any of the plots from the OVAs).
Excel Saga 2 is out now. It's Yummy. No really, with Tapetio it's quite good. And crunchy.
I should stop now. My pathos is showing...
Excel Saga 2

Date: 2002-08-16 11:44 pm (UTC)I reccomend Martian Successor Nadesico as a very fun, warped series. Card Captor Sakura is lots of fun as well. Trigun... well, some people like it a lot, I think it's above average at least. Princess Mononoke is well worth having. Photon is weird fun, not as wierd as Excel Saga though, but you get the whole thing in one video. Hmm. Things I don't have on dvd, but I like, include Sabre Marionette J, umm... Oy, Revolutionary Girl Utena and Ah My Goddess are two things I own that I think are worth owning. ^_^ I'm also slowly collecting Blue Seed which is fun horror on the level of 3x3 Eyes (which I own) and Devil Hunter Yohko or Ushio and Tora, both of which I would own on dvd if they were available on dvd.
