The BBQ was great fun. Quite a number of people made it.

BBQ Roundup

Most of us spent the day playing Monster Croak [because lots of us croaked], though as I told [livejournal.com profile] genebreashears before he left, I think it's time to make the course a little easier. [livejournal.com profile] kehf and Dave's child actually played quite well. Even though he had a lot of help, a number of his shots were great on their own. In fact he made one of the three memorable shots. [livejournal.com profile] zorkfox made another through the gate and through the wicket behind the gate. that wicket was theoretically not accessible in one shot. Probably the best shot of the day was [livejournal.com profile] julesong's hook shot up a hill and back down through the wicket. Can't beat that. [livejournal.com profile] jeffreycornish decided to skip the wickets and go rogue, which made it entertaining. [livejournal.com profile] sora_kitsune got stuck in the middle of the course somewhere [nudge wink].

The cat, Edward, was just full of himself all night. He received quite a bit of attention from quite a few people. He was a little concerned about all the mallets though.

At one point [livejournal.com profile] julesong demonstrated her vocal talent and... I'm sorry Julie, I have to share this... Let out a Very Nice Belch . It was quite impressive. I guess that means the food was good.

Speaking of food, [livejournal.com profile] genebreshears and [livejournal.com profile] meirtam brought over their BBQ grill and Meirtam did the cooking. And made things quite easy. [livejournal.com profile] jwyldragon brought brownies, yum, and while he was a little late, [livejournal.com profile] miko2 brought soda. I let the lasagna get a little crispy, but people seemed to like it anyway.

While we were playing in the yard and getting burned by the sun, a number of others either sat on the deck or in the living room conversing. They'll have to post if they want to share. I'm afraid Juli and I were bad hosts and stayed outside playing games [wink].

We had to call the game on account of darkness and birthday cake, and declared Julie and Charles co-winners. Gene and Mike brought chocolate cake and cards to celebrate the birthdays of Juli [sans 'e'] and [livejournal.com profile] shandower's girlfriend [sorry, the name didn't stick]. It's great you two could make it. CW was there as well, though it wasn't until after everyone had left that I figured out CW wasn't Brombear with his hair dyed black. [oops] Well it was great he came.

We all talked into the night. [livejournal.com profile] dakotamoon tried to work out a way where [livejournal.com profile] zorkfox could be late for home so that the two could spend more time together. Slowly though, bit by bit, people made their way out the door, many to catch the Southworth boat home. Juli and I spent very little time cleaning up afterwards. The place stayed relatively un-trashed by the party.

Thanks to everyone who came. It was great fun.

Next year's course will include PVC!

It was great fun. Charles woke up this morning and wanted to go to your house again today. (High praise from him-- considering he was reluctant to come in the first place). Thanks to everyone who helped make it a 3-year-old friendly event. Its really nice to have a group of folks we can relax with and know that Charles is having a good time.

It's a sign of how comfortable I am with my friends that I belch without thinking about it. It wasn't until Mark brought the carbonated beverages around that I started the Monster Belching... I must have a weak stomach sphincter or something, one that lets them roll so suddenly, without warning, and so resoundingly.

I really can do a lot better vocally when I'm actually *singing*...

This is "very" true. We still talk of your singing at our wedding.

Yes, we had her belch the 1812 overture. It was quite melodic.
