Juli called me from work yesterday, with dire descriptions of some problems with her car. From her description it sounded like some major electrical failure. So I made an appointment with Ken's Northwest Automotive, one of the very best mechanics in the area, to bring in her car today.

This morning we traded cars. One of the symptoms, ...okay, the only symptom that matters, is that the car has trouble starting. It's the starter motor that has failed. That's an easy fix. But since I need to be at work at 7:30... Okay, I'm the boss, I don't "need" to be at work at 7:30, but it's only fair that I be there at the same time as everyone else... I had to drive to Ken's and leave the car. There's no bus service but for every hour and I just happened to be there 3 minutes after the bus left. So I walked the four miles to the studio. I've done that before, it's actually not a bad walk. It's fun.

Ken gave me a call about an hour ago. He mentioned that Juli's car is 3000 miles over due for an oil change. Okay, Juli tends to wait until the oil light comes on before she adds oil. I'd love to complain, but her car has about 180,000 miles on it and still runs great, except when the starter goes out. ...or the alternator, which has happened once. But the gas mileage is great, and it's not burning oil or smoking. I'd love to complain, but her cars is doing a little better then mine.

So I got a reprimand from Ken. He's instructed me to relay it to Juli. Fun.

Electrical problems can be so annoying. They tend to be intermittent, therefore doubly-hard to track down.
