Juli's mother, Laurann, emailed me asking for help. She purchased a full security Norton kit and she was shy about installing it. Well Saturday I had planned to make a trek to Ikea. We've had another set back in that we purchased the wrong size free floating shelves. I thought I'd just make a day of it and stop in at Edmonds.

It felt weird to have my car bomb sniffed at the Kingston Ferry Terminal, but I suppose that's better then the full "get out so we can search your car" technique. I arrived at 1:30 pm out at Laurann's. I decided that I was going to let her install the programs. I think she bought more then she'll ever need, I mean Parental control? I'm sure Grandma Oihus is going to look down from Heaven and glower if Laurann looks at some of "those" web sites. That will be deterrent enough. ...or maybe she'll laugh. That could be deterrent enough as well.

I spent about an hour and a half out Edmonds way. A asked Lauran if she understood what she was doing or just clicking where I told her to. She said she was just clicking. I suppose some of those legal agreements can be intimidating. I just click over them myself, as I'm sure most everybody does.

Ikea... On Saturday afternoon... YIKES! The crowds were significant. I parked out in the rain and made my way through the parking lot. The store itself was a mad house. I needed to wade through with a cart, which took forever. Most everybody was just browsing. I wanted to go at a good pace because I knew what I wanted and I wanted to get out. I'm told that's a "Guy" shopping technique.

I managed to get to the shelves, and there's where things went horribly wrong. ...okay, not "horribly wrong"... I just like the phrase. There was only one size of shelf, the 46" long ones. It wasn't that they were out of the other sizes. Their display showed shorter ones, but the signage only noted the 46" shelves. Hmmm.

Then a thought struck me. I turned and happened to see an Ikey associate right there [Wow! great timing!]. I asked her about the shorter shelves.

Me: "This display is only meant to show how you can customize the shelves, isn't it? They don't come in the other sizes."

Ikea Person: "You're first person to get it right! Thank you!"

So now I had nothing to buy at Ikey, and an empty cart that I had to maneuver through the crowd, backwards, in order to get out of the store. I can't say it was a waist of time. I learned that I could customize the shelves.

Other then having to wade through Renton Traffic, nasty stuff, all that I had left was a stop in Burien at Wonderworld.

As for getting the room done, We plan to have it completed by the time Laurann comes over for her annual Christmas Shopping excursion. That includes couch and drapes.
