Location of Eye: 225 miles SE of the tip of Western Cuba
Path: WNW at 10 mph
Hurricane Warnings: Western Cuba, Cayman Islands
Tropical Storm Warnings: North Yucatan
Tropical Storm Watch: Florida Keys west of Seven Mile Bridge.
Storm Surge: 20 to 25 feet in Cuba [ 8 to 10 in the Caymans]
Ivan may pass through the Yucatan Chanel rather then over Cuba. Almost all forecasting models have shifted further west, one has shifted east. Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama appear at risk.
There is cooler water up in the central Gulf which may weaken Ivan. It's still too difficult to forecast where, when, and how strong Ivan will be when he makes landfall.
