Swirly Thing Alert: H. Frances C2/3
Sep. 4th, 2004 08:28 amFrances is still pounding on the Northwestern Bahamas. She is moving very slowly toward Florida and is expected to reach shore by late tonight or early tomorrow.
Currently Watches and Warnings, both Hurricane and Tropical Storm, cover nearly all of the Florida Peninsula. Key West is clear as is everything north of the Suwanee River on the Gulf coast.
Frances has a very large eye, about 70 miles in diameter. Because of the large eye, and the fact that she is moving slowly, people in the path of the eye will experience the calm in the eye for a long stretch of time.
