Frances winds have dropped to 115 mph as a slight wind shear degrades the mechanics of the storm. A Category 3 hurricane ranges from 111 mph to 130 mph. As Frances moves over the warm waters of the gulf stream she could easily re-intensify, but for now, forecasters are predicting a Category 3 landfall in about 34 hours.

Because Frances is a slow moving storm torrential rains are expected in some portions of Florida.
