NorthWest Swirly Thing Alert: 12:00 Noon
Feb. 4th, 2006 12:15 pmThe power returned precisely at noon according to our atomic clock [it runs on batteries]. I got up at 7:30 and started our gas log. The wind was howlin' yowlin', but the tied down patio furniture stayed put. Not that they didn't want to fly away.
I read for a bit and watched the storm, but I was still a little sleepy, and the house was cold, so I crawled back into bed with my warm snugly wife.
2 hours later I got up. Juli has to work today, and she needs coffee. No no, she would say, I'm fine. Ha! So I hauled out the propane stove and set it up on the sheltered front porch. A half hour later she had coffee. ...good coffee. And I had hot oatmeal.
The wind seems to be dying down, but according to the news we have yet to see the worst of it. I don't know, I think the news is old. Bremerton reports a gust of 50 mph. Most all of the reporting stations had to shut down, so there might have been higher gusts. .....and there's one now. The whole house likes to tremble, but then we have a large exterior wall surface and were up on a bit of a ridge.
Juli's getting ready for work now. Everything is returning to normal.
