Out Damn Bit! Out I Say!
Sep. 18th, 2002 09:24 pmI managed to waste two and a half hours of precious time at work. I was hit by a spoof virus. I received an email saying my message was quarantined because it had the W32.klef.H@mm virus. I should have twigged that it was a spoof when I couldn't find the message I was supposed to have sent and I didn't recognize the name I was to have sent it to. Further I NEVER open attachments.
So after working on line with Norton's website, downloading, scanning, rebooting, etc. I dug further into Norton's site and found my answer. What this virus does, after it's infected it's victim and sent itself out to all the victims contacts, it randomly goes through the "from" file, inserts my address, and send itself out to other computers. If other computers have Norton AV they all send messages back to me saying my message was quarantined because it had a virus.
Assholes doth Vex Meeee! Oops. sorry. There's that word again.
Ah well. It was mostly amusing after I was through.
