So what is it with the storm tracking and posting? I guess I'm just fascinated by tropical storms. That the Earth could cause the same swirly convection currents that can be found on the surface of a steaming pan of water, to me that's intriguing.

I think it was one of the reasons why I could laugh at the faulty science of "Day After Tomorrow" and still enjoy the movie. I understand a little bit how the storm cyclones work. ...just a little.

I'm a virtual storm chaser. With the internet I can do what I've never done in life, that's chase storms. I might have been a meteorologist had things taken a different course. I've always been fascinated by weather, and I watch how things effect us here in the Northwest.

Tropical cyclone are a little different. I don't jump on my LJ and report about rain squalls moving towards us. I might mention a storm that might hit us, and certainly snow. Tropical cyclone are powerful and somewhat immediate. While they may effect a wide swath of area their strongest points are actual rather small. For example Charley's hurricane winds were only located in a thirty mile radius around his center.

Tropical cyclone, while hard to predict course and strength, are easy to locate. If there is a low pressure point, and wind is spiraling tightly around that point, there you have a tropical cyclone.

I can't explain my ...obsession... about them. I probably wouldn't enjoy being in one. I just like to track them. I like to note when a depression begins, and watch as the develop, and note how strong they get, and finally see where they finish.

I guess I'm just strange that way.
