Bringing the Ruby forward
Apr. 23rd, 2002 10:21 pm[Taking a thread from
zorkfox's LJ and adding it to mine.]
genebreshears guestimated that "Ruby, the Adventures of a Galactic Gumshoe", a radio play by ZBS/NPR, came out in the 70's. I had to do some research, and this is what I find:
The first Ruby came out in 1980 and in 1982 it won the Mark Time Award for Best Science Fiction of the Year.

Thrilling Detective Website!
"RUBY TUESDAY is a tough, sexy and sassy female P.I., not above using her considerable charms to get what she wants, and not above a little blasting, either.
Some dialog:
Suspect: "The answer to all your questions are philosophical, Ruby. Are you a philosopher?"
Ruby: "Is that a pig?"
Suspect: "Yes, a pig."
Sound of blaster fire,
Ruby: "Hmm ... are those parrots?"
Imagine Star Trek performed as a detective drama by the Marx Brothers...

In the process of doing my research I've discovered that, not only are Rubys 1, 2, 3 [part 1] and 3 [part 2] available on CD but so is Ruby 4, a Ruby that I did not know existed.
Boy oboy my toast is burning now. The eggs are about to explode! Stand back!
