The Real Folk Blues
Mar. 26th, 2002 09:36 pmI've just finished all of Cowboy Bebop. Cool! Thanks guys!
I suspected things were going to get rough when Ed and Eine left. Of course having
genebreshears say that "they could do a sequel with the survivors" prepared me for what was to come. This was a fun series. I loved the way it developed from something relatively lighthearted to something with deeper and deeper plots. Normally I don't like the dark "Outer Limits" type stories, but these were well done. Even at the end when we find out that the "Shucks Howdy" guy on the net didn't really have an accent, that he had a mother that he came to take home and care for, that was one of those little details that made it fun.
And to have Spike die at the end... Okay, I usually don't like stories like that, but I don't think this story would have worked out any other way. They prepared us for it throughout the entire "Real Folk Blues" episodes.
I learned a long time ago... In anime sometimes the hero dies. ...and sometimes the heroine dies. Sometimes they both die. Sometimes everybody dies. And finally, sometimes everybody except the hero dies. It's just that... somebody has to die, man! Somebody has to die!
Thanks for the Christmas gifts you guys. I made it last three months.

Somebody has to die?
I'm glad you enjoyed it. And it sounds like for the same reasons I did.
