Hope everyone is having/has had a
Happy Thanksgiving!!
We will be heading out to my folks place in about an hour. For the first time ever my mother in law will be joining us, which is very cool.
I had fun picking her up from Edmonds last night. Getting from Poulsbo to Edmonds was a snap. It only took an hour, including the ferry ride. Getting from Edmonds to Port Orchard was a joke. The Edmonds ferry terminal was backed up for about five miles. The radio proclaimed it a two hour waite. The Radio traffic reports also said that Interstate 5 was backed up from Shoreline to Centralia. Driving around would have been a nightmare.
It is a very odd day in Seattle when the fastest way across the sound is down Highway 99, with all of its traffic lights, and over to the little podunk Fauntleroy ferry terminal. Even with a 45 minute wait it was still faster then the Edmonds ferry.
We got questioned by a cop while we were in line.
"Did that truck cut into the line in front of you?"
"Yes."
Hey, all I said was yes. It was the guy behind me that ratted him out. The guy cut the line right at the terminal when people had been waiting for 45 minutes. So, yeah, he deserved to be sent back to the end of the line. ...which at this point was about an hour and a half wait.
It's not the first time I've seen police handling crowd control like that at the terminal. There usually very polite about it.
"I'm sorry sir/ma'm, but you have to treat this line like a theater line. Your have to respect the people in front of you."
Anyway, I'm Thankful that, for the significant majority of the population, everyone is actually very respectful of each other, well behaved and considerate. Spend the day sometime and see how many drivers defer to each other, how many shoppers are polite, how many people looking for parking "don't" race to beat someone else out. Try to ignore the few that stand out as a$$h*lls and get your adrenaline pumping. Remember the "many". I think that you might be amazed.
