Pulling at the recoil starter of life

dolphins_logIt's time to get back to the goals. Usually I don't feel the drive to accomplish anything until the "Back To School" season starts. BTS is something I haven't had to deal with for many years, but it is a energy that returns without fail. I'm beginning to wonder if this... I'll call it a shut down... has anything to do with the lazy days of Summer. Maybe I'm the grasshopper after all, rather then the ant. Hmmm
So instead of waiting until September I thought I would try to force the issue now. I've still got the list, and amazingly some of the goals I've kept up with. I've hit 166 pounds. I've kept alert to my emotional outlook. I believe I'm in good standing for a startup. There hasn't been any retrograde to my achievements, just not much activity towards them.
Juli and I took a road trip after our company picnic at Wildcat Lake. We drove down the East side of Hood Canal, down past Holly and Dewato. After Dewato the road becomes an official Mason County Dirt Road, with a sign that says "Caution: Primitive road with no warning signs." It runs high along the bank overlooking Hood Canal waaaay down in the distance. Lots of gravely hairpins and switchbacks. Fun to drive, even though it claimed another of my irreplaceable hub caps.
At the end is Maynard's Landing of the Port of Tahuya. It's almost right down on the saddle of the hook of Hood Canal. It's a fun little park, with a small flat spit of land to walk around on. We strolled on the beach for a bit as the ever present wind beat on us. I don't think the wind ever stops there. It has the entire stretch of the loop of the Canal to blow over. It's a good 3 to 5 miles across there. [for reference, the Hood Canal Bridge is 1 mile].
We returned along North Shore Road to Belfair, no more primitive road, and headed home. Very relaxing.
