Comming up on four years...
Sep. 21st, 2002 02:04 pm...and still feeling newlywed. Of course we've only been living together for three years.
Our fourth year anniversary is on the 26th and I've been beating myself up trying to think of something to get her. The 'official' gift item is supposed to be traditionally flowers or contemporarily an appliance. I get her flowers all the time and I'm the one who would use the appliance.
So I searched the net for some old standby's and found the Harbour Lights, the company that makes our favorite lighthouse collectables, just came out with "New Dungeness, WA". so I zipped down to Old Town Port Orchard and snagged one. There's also a few other lighthouses that we'd like to get ahold of. One which is down here, "Cape Disappointment, WA", and one which they would have to order, "Battery Point, CA,".
In the quest on the net I also discovered three lighthouses in Puget Sound that I was previously unaware; Skunk Built in 1965 by lighthouse fans. They patterned it after Mukilteo. They rescued an old lantern tower from an abandoned lighthouse and placed it on their tower. The Coast Guard ordered them to keep it extinguished or get it registered as an official aid to navigation. It's now an official lighthouse. The two others are in Gig Harbor and on Tanglewood Island out by Fox Island. All three together are within one days drive. COOL! Maybe that will be our September 27th day trip.
