We're All Inocent In Here.

Today we were hauled off to The Rock.

The labor intensive tour of Alcatraz includes more walking.  There is the mandatory audio tour of the cell blocks, which included the new mind control mp3 players.  There were the descriptions of past failed attempts to escape and how it would be futile to try to escape.  Then there were the descriptions of day to day chores and the punishment-* 

LOOK!  A LIGHTHOUSE!  Shortbread!  Dump the PrisonPod and grab your camera!

And in the end we escaped with many many excellent photos. 

Actually the tour of Alcatraz was fascinating.  Part of it included the 1969 Indian occupation that lasted for 19 month.  As it turns out that occupation was significant enough in Native American history that it is a large point in Alcatraz history.

And learning about the prison inmates was fascinating as well.  There was on former inmate there at The Rock in the book store for his book signing.

We served our sentence of 6 hours and returned to the outside world.  It was then that the punishment started.   More walking.

We walked further down the waterfront then Shortbread has ever gone before.  We went through Fort Mason all the way to the famous tourist attraction called Safeway. 

Back another mile and a bit.   There seems to be an event going on right now.  There are many massive groups of wandering joggers that seem to not have a specific route.  One group ignored the paths in Fort Mason and just meandered all about.  It seems to be like "follow the leader", who ever that may be at the moment. 

Dinner back at pier 39.  Clam linguini for me.  Stake and potatoes for Shortbread.

Shortbread:  I bought a copy of the Alcatraz Inmates rules and regulations so that they may be properly implemented once we return home.  Sort of like the Pirate's Creed only in reverse."
