Juli is out of town.  Actually she's just across the water working at the Northgate store.  She is training the staff there with their new computer system.   ....that no one likes.  She is going to stay at her mom's place in Edmonds and will be back on Friday.

Today I had my last appointment with the dentist, actually with the hygienist.  Fortunately I didn't need a deep roots cleaning.  I still went with the nitrous though.  Don't like squeaky grindy things next to my teeth.  No pain to report, and my teeth are clean.  I have an appointment for next October.  So this trial is done.

I've been working on the job hunt.  I've started with the online sites first, just to see what's out there.  I'll need to think about networking a little.  I've got my interview clothes all set.  It helps to have a wife who works in a clothing store.

I like Mythbusters on the discovery Chanel.  They take on myths and attempt to prove them, disprove them, or accept that they might be plausible.

Mythbusters experimented with growing peas.  My parents have always quoted this myth as the reason rock music could be bad.  The team set up a number of green houses.
One green house was sweet talked.
One green house was cursed at violently.
One green house had soft music played to them.
One green house had Heavy Metal Screaming Speed Rock blown at them.

And there was one green house that was the control, with nothing special done to it.

The Result?

A. Talking to plants helps a little.  It doesn't matter if you sweet talk them or curse violently at them, it just seems to help.

B.  Music gives you excellent plants.  Those plants that had music played to them produced the most mass and the most pea pods.

C.  The winner?  Heavy Metal Screaming Speed Rock produced the most mass and the most pea pods by far, blowing all competitors out of the green house.

Conclusion?

Not Busted.  Not Confirmed.  The conclusion is that it's "Plausible" that plants respond to voice and music.

And Now You Know.
