Weekend Wandering
Jun. 20th, 2004 09:22 pmWeekend Wandering
Today started fairly easily. Last night was very hot, even at 1:30 AM when I got home after Writer's Night. Poor Juli had to get up at 9 to go to work. Well... I got up at 9 as well and put her lunch together. At 10 I kissed her goodbye and told her to play nice with the other kids.
I set out into the back yard right away, and snipped off as much of the small scotch broom starts as I could find. Then I reached as high as I could into my neighbors blackberry next and snipped off the branches that were trying to arch over into our yard. There were also a number of vines and scotch broom branches trying to make their way under and through the fence. Crafty creatures!
I still needed to find my father his book for Father's Day. I started with Port Orchard, with only one pause for a hair cut. No luck here. Next I headed for Gig Harbor. Again no luck. Then off to Tacoma with a visit to Half Price Book's, Borders, and then the Tacoma Mall. Still no luck. After a four-hour search I've resigned myself to ordering it in and being very late.
While I was in Tacoma I stopped at TJ Maxx and found Juli processing shoes. Actually she paged me to register 5 where she was surrounded by cases and cases of shoes. Beware people. I've seen the shoe event horizon. I offered to go get her a latte, for which she was great full. She was very busy so of course we couldn't visit. It was enough that I could get her a beverage.
