Water, Water Everywhere
Jan. 19th, 2003 03:45 pmYesterday, on the ferry, I bumped into someone I haven't seen for 25 years. This woman came up to me and stared at me in the face.
"I know you!" she exclaimed.
"Kat Eggelston!" I replied. "High School debate. You were from Vashon."
"That's right! How've you been? I'm sorry, I forgot your name."
So we sat down and caught up with each other while the boat crossed to Vashon. During High School we had a friendly personal rivalry, always wanting our teams to be pitted against each other. Actually we would help each other out when it came to inter-legue tournaments, that is if we weren't up against each other again.
It seems kind of obvious to me that we would bump into each other. I ride the Vashon boat all the time. Though to her it was a great surprise, especially since she lives in Chicago now.
Saturday was the day to bump into people. I made my stop at Wonderworld, and while looking over my choices
sora_kitsune,
zorkfox, and
jwyldragon, walked up the aisle. Doubly odd, since we were all eventually ending up at writer's night in Ballard. Moments later Edd and Amy come walking through the door. While we're all being surprised and having an impromptu meeting by the checkout counter, who should walk in bu Steve Gallacci.
At that point my brain fried. I hadn't had any water that day, and I struck brain fog with all the input. I stepped out to my car and took a couple of aspirin. Then I leaned against it, playing with my PDA. I need to carry water in the car I think. I don't like brain fog.
Tonight Juli is taking me to her We-Survived-Christmas party for her store down in Tacoma. Sounds like they're going to have a lotta fun.
