Tell it to the wall
Jul. 27th, 2002 11:53 pmI finished the walls today. I intended to travel to Silverdale and load down my subaru with as many pounds of brick as the owners manual said I could carry. It says I can carry 900 lb including driver. The way I figured, me and the trash I have and the pallet would be about 200 lb. Then I gave myself a safety of 100lb and planned on 600lb of brick.
As I stepped out the door for the long haul I remembered... There's a shiny new Home Depot down in Gig Harbor. Gig Harbor is 15 minutes away. Silverdaly is 35 minutes away. Wouldn't that have been a "d'oh!"
So as it turned out I could load 25 brick into the Subaru. It was a squishy ride home, but other then that the buggy did fine. I figured I needed 22 brick just by eyeballing what I needed to accomplish. At about 2:00 I'd used up all the brick and needed about 18 more. I had a choice; relax for an hour and catch a boat to the Tai Pan EB meeting, or go get more brick. I thought Gig Harbor is only 15 minutes away. I'll at least go down and get the brick. I'll finish the walls up tomorrow. By the time I got back it was 3:00. By 3:30 I had finished the walls. I was that close. Hey, once the foundation is in the walls just come together.
Took a shower. Stepped on the scale. 166. Yeah, but it doesn't count. I needed to drink a lot of water.
