Go Seahawks!
I was walking home from work. It's only 26 miles. I was walking down the stairs just south of Bremerton to the waterfront railroad tracks by Sinclare Inlet. The only way around to Port Orchard was to follow the tracks that hug the cliff.
At the base of the stairs it was so incredibly foggy that I was concerned I might step off the tracks and over the cliff. The upper classman with us [I don't know who all the "us" were]guided us through that tight moment.
As we walked down the tracks the tracks faded and turned into a slate stone. That was okay though. Any train that traveled on the stone could follow it without difficulty. We rounded an inside bend and found our way blocked by what looked like a very old, cold lava flow.
Down the tracks we could see a train coming. Since we were on a cliff face there wasn't really a place to get out of the way. A few yards back I found a niche. It was just big enough for the three of us. We climbed in and waited.
In a few minutes more people showed up looking for shelter. They all stacked in like cord wood. Everyone was safe by the time the bulldozer came by with it's impossibly HUGE shovel.
It was singing a rockus tune. There was no driver. The bulldozer was singing and rocking back and forth to it's tune. The tune had no melodie that we could discern. It went something like...
" NaNA Nana naNa Nana NaNa PEOPLE MOVER! NaNA Nana naNa Nana PEOPLE MOVER!"
After the bulldozer passed we all climbed back into our cars and continued our drive home. the drive was like a film on fast forward. Cars were diving and darting about at a hectic pace. I was very concerned that my luck would run out. Some of the maneuvers that cars were making were very near things.
An old style freight truck with wooden walls on it's flat bed passed me on the left and then made a hard right in front of me. There was going to be and accident. Before my foot hit the break I woke up.
Apparently I woke with a start because I woke Juli too. "What?" she asked. Very sleepy girl.
